We Need a New Deal!

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." - Harold Whitman

It would be all too easy to go off on a tangent about the state of our economy, the wall street executives that got us in this financial meltdown mess, as well as the politicians who allowed it to happen, specifically John McCain. His record is proof enough. Just think of the billions and billions of dollars wasted. And, 50 million Americans have no health care!!! All this bailout money in addition to the money for this endless war could have every American covered with health care. What kind of society are we? Obviously, a society that cares more about banks and war than each other. After all, we allow 18,000 people to die in this country each year because they have no health insurance. We allow 50 million Americans to go without health coverage.

Personally, I do not think we should accommodate the banks with a 700-billion bailout! We need a new deal!!!

It's a beautiful day in the desert!

McCain - More of the same...

McCain's platform for health care is pretty much the same as Bush, which means more and more Americans will be without health insurance. I just don't get it. Europeans would be enraged and burning government buildings to the ground if they lost their healthcare. Here in America, it's okay to let 18,000 people die each year because they have no health insurance - unbelievable. How bad does it have to get? Are we so numb that we can't fight for a basic human right?

Health care is a right not a privilege!!

On another note, it's a beautiful day in the desert.

Okay folks, it's the morning after Obama's speech and what a speech that was!!! I don't know about you, but I have never been so inspired by a politician as Obama. And, I have never seen so many young people inspired as I have in this election year, and it's all because of one man - Obama.

As a nurse I am very concerned about the 50 million Americans with no health insurance, which many of my friends fall into this category. I am concerned that more and more middle class Americans are losing their health insurance each year. I am concerned that the skyrocketing cost of health care has the working class opting NOT to take their employer's health insurance plan because they are now forced to use that money that would otherwise be put toward their healthcare plan, on food and gas. I am concerned that more and more middle class Americans have "catastrophic" health plans only.

I am concerned about our jobs are going overseas. I am concerned about our national deficit and I am very concerned about the war and our dependence on foreign oil.

I have to admit, I haven't paid much attention to McCain. I would sure appreciate any viewpoints about McCain. What is his stance on healthcare, the economy, the war, drilling for oil? I will definitely listen to the RNC.

It's a beautiful day in the desert!
